About PropertyVal

Property management in the UK is unnecessarily complicated. Service charges, managing agents, block management, maintenance responsibilities — there is so much to learn that it is unnecessarily difficult to find reliable, plain-English explanations.

My name is Paul, and I created PropertyVal to help.

I have spent years in and around the UK property industry — whether in estate agency or property management — and one thing stood out to me over and over again. The people who needed more information did not have access to it. Leaseholders who couldn't grasp what the charges were for. Landlords who were unclear about their obligations. Flat owners who were unaware that they had choices. Most online information was either so vague as to offer nothing or was written by someone trying to sell them something.

"Not selling anything is what sets PropertyVal apart. Every article is written to provide as much valuable information as I can offer. If I cannot do that, I don't write it."

You will find the website covering property management, block management, and general property ownership in the UK, tailored to the needs of landlords, leaseholders, flat owners, and all those who want to understand the reality of residential property management as they encounter it.

Feel free to contact me if you'd like to clarify anything or have me cover a specific topic. I do read all messages.

Paul
Founder, PropertyVal

Paul spent many years in the UK property market, starting in estate agency and then moving to property and block management. He gained a good understanding of the information void that existed for average property owners.

He started PropertyVal to fill that gap with a simple, no-frills, consumer facing site that offered no services to sell, and no other agenda than to offer people well researched, useful information.

Unlike many other industry commentators, Paul has direct industry experience and a no-nonsense, practical style that describes how the property industry actually works.

Outside of writing for PropertyVal, Paul still works in property management and follows industry news and updates closely, especially regarding leasehold reform and the new rules being put in place for managing agents.
